Is it characteristic of folks who are under treatment for anxiety and panic attacks to make no sense?

it just seems like this friend i know constantly makes things twisted around so never to be blamed, responsible, or at fault for something (which no one is perfect i know this). i was just wondering if confusion and just not making sense at all was common with anxiety. and if the people close to the one suffering get irritated and confused also.

no that’s not just cause of anxiety~that’s called peter pan syndrome~never grow up & take responsibility for anything ♦

Find an Anxiety Treatment That Works for you and Stick With it

This may come as a shock to you, but professionals such as doctors, lawyers psychological counselors, music teachers, etc. do not know everything there is to know about all the available information in the field. Although the foremost authority on anxiety and anxiety treatments may be able to tell you what works for the vast majority of people, they cannot be absolutely certain that their treatment program will be effective for you.

This means that it’s absolutely critical that you work with a qualified professional psychologist, psychiatrist or medical doctor to develop an anxiety treatment plan that’s right and effective for you. While many medications are on the market and have high rates of effectiveness, most do not come without side effects. Depending on your individual needs, these side effects may or may not be an issue for you.

There is no “one-size-fits-all” solution to dealing with anxiety. The reason for this is that there is a wide variety of anxiety types that need to be considered. This also makes anxiety disorders one of the more complex illnesses to accurately diagnose. Consider this list of some of the more recognized anxiety disorders.

Panic Attack

Panic Disorder

Agoraphobia

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Anxiety Disorder

Substance Induced Anxiety

Separation Anxiety

Generalized Anxiety Disorders

Societal Anxiety Disorder

As you can easily understand, it’s important to find a qualified professional knowledgeable in anxiety disorders to help not only diagnose, but also develop an anxiety treatment program that will work for you.

Individual and group counseling, has been shown to produce long-term positive effects for many who suffer from various types of anxiety. Societal anxiety and certain phobias are especially well-suited to respond well to counseling. Once again however, depending on your situation and personality, counseling may not be well-suited for you.

There are many alternative treatment options that depending on your interests and personality, may also be effective are essentially worthless. Take for an example yoga. There are many people who have claimed substantial relief from the symptoms of anxiety by adding yoga to their overall treatment program. Yoga requires the ability to calm oneself internally and focus. While many claimed the virtues of yoga, others simply cannot get any benefit.

In the end, the person with an anxiety disorder must be able to commit to a developed treatment program to make it work. This means that someone suffering from an anxiety disorder needs to be completely honest with their psychological professional as the anxiety treatment plan is being developed. It’s only through honest interaction to the most effective treatment be found that will provide the desired relief from the symptoms.

What treatment is possible for anxiety disorders?

I’m going to a psychologist in two weeks. I think I have an anxiety disorder (constant and illogical worry and nervousness over silly things or nothing at all, often to the point of making myself sick). Anyway, if I am diagnosed I’m curious about the possible treatments I may encounter. And if anyone knows of a support forum it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have suffered from general anxiety disorder for about 5 years now, so I know what you are going through. I saw a therapist for a year, and was also placed on anti-depressants. They allow you to control the illogical thoughts that can control your life. I also learned a lot of breathing and relaxation techniques that help me to calm myself down before my fears get out of control.

Honestly, the medication helps the most, and if I didn’t take it I’d still feel like I was going crazy. Good luck, and remember that you aren’t alone in this!

The Best Types of Treatment for Anxiety Attacks

When considering anxiety attack treatment there are certain steps you should take. With the help of a medical professional you should first identify the symptoms and then establish a plan of attack. An anxiety attack can only be properly diagnosed by a medical professional and they can prescribe a practical method of anxiety attack treatment. Attacking the symptoms of anxiety attacks is taking on only half the problems and there is no miracle cure.

Associated medical conditions will be ruled out by your doctor first. A lot of the symptoms of an anxiety attack can be brought on by medications or disease so in order to eliminate any possible other issues these need to be determined and dealt with first. Panic and anxiety attacks may in fact be cured by a change in medication or a diagnosis of another disorder. Before visiting your doctor you should document your symptoms so you can discuss them accurately.

Anxiety attacks or an anxiety attack disorder can be caused by a variety of conditions. Low blood sugar levels, certain heart conditions, excessive intake of caffeine, drug use, tumors or an overactive thyroid gland are some, but not all of the possible conditions. The root of your problems can be one of these conditions which lead to anxiety attacks. An anxiety attack treatment plan may be effective if it primarily deals with these conditions.

Lifestyle is Key

Examine your lifestyle is also important. You should consult a professional if your find that your ability to live a normal life is interrupted by your anxiety levels. When determining if you are a candidate for a mental health professional that are some signs or red flags you should consider. These include feeling unable to work, feeling unable to keep your normal behavior patterns or appearance or hygiene patterns, cutting off social connections and trouble sleeping, eating or bathing. These ideologies can be causes by other possibilities but anxiety is a possibility you should consider.

For many people stress and anxiety are parts of normal life. However, the difference between an anxiety attack sufferer and a person who copes properly is how an individual handles stress. If you are the former you should see out anxiety attack treatment. To handle the daily grind and make more out of situations to overcome stress and anxiety a mental health professional can equip you and help you get back to basic, healthy living.

Will someones anxiety be cured with time by treatment?

If like someones a on treatment to treat their anxiety, with time will the anxiety go away?

Hi. I have always been an anxious person, and at one point I had an acute anxiety problem. It was so severe that I suffered mini stroke type attacks. It was a horrendous time! I was prescribed medication but I was too anxious about the side effects lol so I couldnt take them. I was really ill!
Instead, I just got over it the natural way, without any therapy or medication. I ate regular protein which has proven affects on preventing blood sugar levels that can put your body into that state. I read about anxiety and discovered the cause of it. As soon as I no longer feared the anxiety, it just stopped. Its really strange. Find out what triggers any attacks if thats what you get. It could be a slight faint feeling, or just a twitch in your leg, or a person or situation – whatever it is that can trigger your anxiety attack. Understand that it is just your bodys fight or flight system being more sensitive than other peoples. You would be a survivor in the wild lol. Try to go with the feeling and it will go away for ever. I promise. When it comes over you just say "Here we go again. My body has been tricked into feeling afraid. Its just the chemicals in my body reacting to something and I welcome the fact that my body is so advanced that it can do this. Wow! This feels a bit odd but I am OK. This has happened before and I really thought I was gonna die but I was ok in the end when I calmed down. It was OK in the end. I’m ok’ Get a cold glass of water, go next to a window, get someone to massage your back if you can and tell you that you are ok or whatever you need to hear. have someone that you can ring at any time if you need to and ring them. They can just be with you on the phone. Put a nice film on or something else that will distract your mind. And it will pass. You dont need medication. You are in charge of your mind. You really are. I really recommend trying this method as I truly believe that if I did it everyone can!

Different Forms Of Anxiety Treatment

At one time or another we have all experienced anxiety; a natural reaction to particular stressors in our lives. Juggling career demands, personal relationships, and family schedules can provoke anyone to have moments when the anxiety becomes palpable and manifests itself in a number of physical symptoms. It is only when anxiety is persistent and pervasive – interfering with everyday activities – which sufferers turn to anxiety treatment to help manage their symptoms and bring balance and order back into their life.

Anxiety treatment – like the anxiety that we experience – is varied; depending on the severity and frequency of the episodes and the personal needs of the sufferer. Those battling ongoing anxiety often experience persistent heightened levels of panic and fear – either in general or in response to particular situations. The treatment that will bring relief must be decided between patient and doctor and only comes after a comprehensive examination and proper diagnosis.

Most often, those who turn to treatment options are experiencing what has been defined as anxiety disorder – an umbrella diagnosis that refers to many different forms of anxiety including panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety, and general anxiety disorder. Not every treatment works for every sufferer so it is vitally important that each person who seeks treatment does so in accordance with their medical practitioner. Your doctor will be able to run a series of tests to first ensure that the symptoms experienced as a result of anxiety are not instead manifestations of a physical ailment or disease.

Once anxiety has been diagnosed, a treatment plan is put into place. One such anxiety treatment is what as known as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is conducted by a licensed therapist – a reputable practioner that your primary doctor can recommend – and focuses on changing the thinking and behavior of the anxiety sufferer. Individual catalysts of anxiety are identified with each patient – particular situations that most often provoke anxiety. Once these provocations are identified, the therapist can then work with the patient to put tools in place to help the patient work through the anxiety during particular situations. Often – after much work has been done – the therapist will expose the patient to situations that provoke stress; in some cases, frequent exposure can actually desensitize the patient to the situation and anxiety levels are lowered considerably. CBT can take months to fully reveal its benefits. But often it is well worth the work as patients can learn to manage their anxiety without the use of medications.

Holistic anxiety treatment is another method used to manage anxiety. Such treatments include the taking of herbal remedies that have been shown to have effectiveness in anxiety management. However, it is important to work with a doctor in determining what herbal treatments may work for you; some are not recommended in conjunction with other medication so it is important to proceed with care. Other patients report success with such therapies as acupuncture, biofeedback – a form of self-hypnosis – and other relaxation techniques such as meditation, and therapeutic massage.

When anxiety continues even after the implementation of therapy and holistic remedies, a doctor may prescribe medication to help control anxiety symptoms. Luckily, medical advancements have made medication safe and effective when used under the care of a doctor; and many people report substantial success with the help of medications. Your doctor can prescribe the medication that is most likely to work with your particular situation.

Finally, it is important to take extra care of yourself if you suffer from anxiety. Anxiety treatment also relies on the patient knowing to what best their body responds. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and plentiful sleep can go a long way toward helping lower anxiety levels.

I need advice, please. What is best Neurology or psychiatry for social anxiety treatment?

I made an appointment in a local clinical for psychiatry but the lady said neurology also treat these cases. I don’t know what to chose? Do you have any idea? They would be greatly appreciated.

I had that, CBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy) is the therapy for that particular problem. I’d reasearch all you symtoms before you go though and have a clear idea on what you have because they just take a wild guess and perscribe a medication.
Right now i take Zoloft at 1 and 1/2 pills of 50mgs ( made for Anxiety, and doesn’t react to anything really), which has basicaly saved my social life. i used to spend 5 mins in class thinking about wether or not i should go up and sharpen my pencil, because i feared that anxiety rush so much. i rarely spoke and if i did i would most likely slur a few sentences, everybody thought i was some kind of creep because of it, it sucked. but know i basicaly do whatever i want no problem not even the thought about questioning it either. i look at people that i can tell are nervous and just think why are they nervous their isn’t even a crowd. but i know how hard it is so i don’t take anything against them.

Is there a NATURAL treatment/remedy for anxiety?

I’ve been experiencing some really bad anxiety lately, and it is really affecting my life. Is there some kind of natural treatment/remedy/supplement for treating anxiety?

Any over-the-counter pill that you can take that will calm you?

I tried Kava Kava, but it did nothing for me.

I need something that will definitely work.
Btw, I should mention that I’m mainly seeking a temporary quick fix at the moment. I need something that’ll work a.s.a.p.

A pill or something than will help calm me.

Valerian root works for me. Valium is derived from it. It has a terrible smell but once you get passed that it will calm you and also can be used as a sleep aid. You can buy it almost any where herbal remedies are sold including Walmart.
